Simon Posch was born in 1966 in the south of Austria. He was drawn abroad soon after he had finished his studies in Tourism Management. For more than seven years he held Management positions in a luxury hotel industry in the United States and Austria and served as the Director of Marketing for the Austrian National Tourist Office in Germany. Back in Vienna he remained in the tourism industry for another seven years as Director of Marketing for Austria’s largest hotel group and later as the CEO of a leading travel agency group. In 2003, his great personal interest and love for culture and especially music led him to become the CEO of the Haus der Musik (HdM, the soundmuseum) – the world‘s leading interactive music experience museum.
Over the years he has developed this extraordinary museum into a renowned example for modern museology. The numbers of visitors doubled, the programs extended and upgraded and new interactive signature exhibits developed. Today, Haus der Musik plays an important role in the museum world. Director Posch is responsible for both the business and artistic side of the institution, he also consults other museum- and exhibtion projects worldwide. He holds lectures and presentations and serves in the advisory board of the national Chopin Institute in Poland. He founded a partnership with pianist Lang Lang and his International Music Foundation. Director Posch is currently working on several international HdM license projects, the first one was successfully opened in 2015 in the Mexican City of Puebla.
