“I was really surprised and excited when I realised that the most brilliant stars of the constellations matched the largest Maya cities.”
William is a 15-year-old Canadian student of 11th grade in Quebec. He is passionate about several scientific fields: astronomy, archeology, renewable energy and transport.
Since 2012, he makes researches on the Mayan civilization. In 2014, he presented his Mayan discovery at the International Symposium on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (IGARSS) at Quebec and, in November, he made a presentation to the staff of the Canadian Space Agency in Saint-Hubert.
In 2015, he exchanged his observations on the Mayan civilization with archaeologists from the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (National Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico) in Maya Museum at Cancun. Later he participated in the regional science fairs of Quebec and Canada.
In May 2016, fascinated by the ancient Central American civilization and having spent hours poring over diagrams of constellations and maps of known Mayan cities, he discovered a lost Maya city (which he named K’àak’ Chi’, “Mouth of Fire” in English) hidden deep in the jungles at Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico by using a new method of matching projected stars (Google Maps and Maya Codex) over the location of temples on the Earth. His research was publicized worldwide.
Currently, Gadoury participates in many science fairs, congresses, and workshops around the world. He wants to continue studying Science in order to become a designer and inventor in the field of renewable energy.
