Rebeca Olvera

“Talented people are, above all, close, humble and mostly, great human beings. I think that’s why they have a great impact on the audience”

Rebeca Olvera was born in Mexico. She studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City and had her professional operatic debut in the role of Marie in Donizetti's La fille du régiment at the Palace of Fine Arts. Her performances are characterized by a great repertoire due to the great versatility of her voice. She has won the audience admiration for being the Zurich Opera soloist.

In 2006 she won the prize of the audience at the International Hans-Gabor Belvedere Competition in Vienna.

She was the first Mexican soprano to appear at the prestigious Salzburg Festival in a new production of Norma, directed by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Courier with Cecilia Bartoli in the main role. She has since returned there in several occasions.

In 2016, she made her UK and French debuts as Adalgisa at the Edinburgh International Festival and Théâtre des Champs-Elyseés, respectively.

Rebeca has worked with conductors such as Ralf Weikert, Vladimir Fedoseyev, William Christie, Marc Minkowski, Nello Santi, Adam Fischer, Fabio Luisi, Diego Fasolis, Franz Welser-Möst, Emmanuelle Haïm and Alessandro De Marchi.

Together with José Carreras, she has performed in Mexico, Argentina, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Cyprus, Russian, Czech Republic and in Germany where she participated in a gala concert which was televised on the German channel ARD.
