Diplomat, lawyer and Mexican historian, Rafael Tovar y de Teresa has served as Mexico’s Ambassador to Italy, General Director of the National Institute of Fine Arts, President of the National Council for Culture and the Arts, and Secretary of Culture. He was briefly the Bicentennial of Independence and Centennial of the Mexican Revolution Coordinator.
He is the author of Modernization and Political Cultural (Modernización y política cultural) and co-author of the collective work in two volumes The Cultural Heritage of Mexico (El patrimonio cultural de México).
He has received recognition and awards, granted by the governments of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, France, Guatemala, Italy, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine and Venezuela among others.
In March 2009, he published a novel called Paradise Is Your Memory (Paraíso es tu memoria), and in 2010, his second novel, The Last Toast of Don Porfirio (El último brindis de Don Porfirio).
