He obtained the Engineering Physics degree at ITESM, Masters in Physics at CINVESTAV and a master’s degree and Ph.D in Space Propulsion at MIT. His interests include plasma physics (the fourth state of matter, where the gas atoms have lost electrons), nanotechnology and space propulsion.
Lozano has developed patents, founded a company and published over 80 articles in scientific research journals. He is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the American Physical Society (APS). He has also participated in study panels for the National Research Council (NRC) of the National Academies of the USA, including studies on potential risk mitigation by asteroid collisions with the Earth and in the prioritization of technologies to be developed at NASA.
He has been recognized as one of the best young researchers by the U.S. Air Force for their contributions to the ion propulsion (a type of space propulsion, but electric) for microsatellites, and has been named “Future Mind” by Quo/Discovery Channel.
