“My message is always love and solidarity.”
Karla Kanora was born in Esmeraldas, Ecuador. As a girl she decided to pursue music and at age 12 she began to participate in national singing competitions. Despite the limitations to her artistic development that her city presented, her parents decided to send her to Guayaquil to attend school and take private singing lessons. Later she joined the Cuban group Habana Express touring several cities in the US.
In 2006, she began her career by winning a talent competition, and her hit “Only You” (“Solo tú”) was the song that definitely established her as one of the great female artists of Ecuador, earning her recognition as “Artist of the Year” and as “Promising Artist” at various radio stations in her country. From then on, Karla Quiñónez became Karla Kanora and leapt from obscurity to popularity.
Since 2012, Karla is the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Ecuador, in a program that combines efforts to promote maternal and child health.
Her talent has allowed her to represent Ecuador in countries like Colombia, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, Cuba, Spain, United States, Russia, France, China. Currently, Karla is promoting her second single “Bad Fake” (“Falso Malo”), continuing in her R&B and soul style, and is studying Music Education Pedagogy at the Technical University of Manabí.
