Jon Mooallem

“Wild Ones the Jon Mooallem’s book is as funny as it is said, beautifully observed and written and wiser about the human condition than any thing I’ve read in a long time.”
- Michael Pollan.

Mooallem is a journalist and writer graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, and Phi Beta Kappa from Colorado College, who has caused a sensation for his acclaimed books Wild Ones: A Sometimes Dismaying, Weirdly Reassuring Story About Looking at People Looking at Animals in America and the short e-book American Hippopotamus, the outrageous true story of two early twentieth century spies who tried to bring hippopotamus-ranching to America. Wild Ones was chosen as a notable book of 2013 by The New York Times Book Review, The New Yorker, Outside Magazine and Canada’s National Post among others.

Jon has contributed to The New York Times Magazine since 2006, and also, to The New Yorker, Wired, This American Life and many other magazines and radio shows.

He spoke at international conferences earlier this year and recently toured with Black Prairie, a folk band featuring members of the Decemberists, telling stories from Wild Ones which the band live-orchestra on stage.
