“Necessity is the best motivation for innovating.”
Franz is an inventor, a medic and a philanthropist. In these three stages he focuses in the heart, giving solutions to genetically heart diseases to provide a healthy future for children around the world and, specially those in Bolivia.
Freudenthal’s inspiration comes from many sources, firstly from his grandmother, doctor Ruth Wrischinski of Tichauer, who dedicated great part of her life to treating vulnerable patients in the Bolivian Andes region.
His most widely used inventions are cardiac devices that are inserted in the heart or in an artery in a non-invasive manner to closet the “gap” and, in this way, they remain in the human body eliminating the problem. These devices are distributed around the globe and have saved the life of approximately 50,000 people, most of them children.
In Bolivia, Freudenthal established the Heart Disease La Paz Foundation (FCI) (Fundación Cardioinfantil La Paz) with the purpose of reaching scarce resources children, who often succumb to heart diseases due to their economic and physical vulnerability. Furthermore, this disease is not detected in many cases and the death of the child could be attributed to another cause.
Pursuant to the foregoing, FCI is dedicating its efforts in achieving the broad and timely identification and treatment of genetically heart disease. With this type of work, doctor Freudenthal is achieving his dream of looking at healthier children.
