Founded by Steven Schragis in 2006, it covers 80 to 100 live events in around 45 markets throughout the United States. It is the opportunity to attend and participate for a day in the classes of professors from the most prestigious universities in the world such as Harvard, Oxford and Yale. The courses are taught from the perspective of each academic, based on their experiences and interests.
In the Day of Knowledge, we work closely with teachers to have conversations that inform and inspire attendees, regardless of whether they are in university or not. People who attend these courses celebrate learning, and understand that it is a rewarding process that does not end.
This proposal from The City of Ideas will soon convene the ideastas on a specific day to offer them the opportunity to witness and participate in a series of courses taught by the best contemporary scholars. They will not be normal courses, the subjects taught by teachers who love to teach for people who love to learn and dare to continue doing it. They will be treated from a perspective based on the personal experiences and interests of each teacher. With questions like: What are the five films that really managed to transform society? Why are some people resilient and others not? Where does evil come from and goodness come from? How to learn from quantum physics with sports metaphors ? The objective is not to receive a diploma, but to learn and enjoy the knowledge, the motivation to have an unparalleled experience at the same time that the brain is being exercised, the ability to be amazed and curiosity is not stimulated.
Day of Knowledge will give the audience the opportunity to return to school and reacquire all the knowledge they forgot or that they did not care about in their school days without worrying about grades, tuition, schedules, bullying, and why we hated going to school: exams. Of course, once finished you get a certification of all the courses that you have taken. This event is dedicated to the audience so that they get involved in this new knowledge with the best prepared and most recognized teachers of their respective disciplines in order to enjoy the experience of continuing to learn.
Andrés Roemer, curator and co-founder of the “International Festival of Brilliant Minds, the City of Ideas” seeks to inspire and make a group of ideastas; of people who want to transform the world with their ideas, of people who little by little are more conscious, responsible and critical. This festival takes it to a new level, with the added value of Day of Knowledge, it goes beyond knowledge and education.
