Canadian experimental psychologist and one of the most important authors in the world on topics such as language, mind and human nature.
He is President of a group of experts who work for the American Heritage Dictionary and writes regularly for The New York Times and other publications. He has been named “Humanist of the Year”. Prospect Magazine recognized him as “One of the 100 World Thinkers;” and Time Magazine, as one of the 100 most “ influential people of the world today.”
His research on language, vision and social relations has earned him several awards such as the Science National Academy, the Great Britain Royal Institution, the American Psychological Association and others. He has received 8 Ph.Ds honoris causa and earned recognitions as a faculty member in MIT and Harvard.
He is author of several awarded publications, for example: The Language Instinct, The Better Angels of Our Nature; Words and Rules: The Ingredients of Language; How the Mind Works. His most recent book is: The Sense of Style: The Thinking Person’s Guide to Writing in the 21st Century.
