To end this segment, Lila Downs, a Grammy Award-winning singer, moved the audience with her songs and music, such as “Querido Al algo” and “Zapata”, with influences from Mexican folk and ranchera music, as well as from the southern United States.
Joaquín Arroyo Cabrales, a Mexican paleontologist, spoke about the current study of mammoths in the basin of Mexico and Enrique Lomnitz, named among the “35 innovators under 35 years of age” by the MIT Technology Review, explained his mission to help that Mexico City goes from being one of the least sustainable in terms of water issues in the world, to being the first mega city to integrate rainwater catchment into its water management strategy.
After enjoying listening to María Hanneman, a 14-year-old pianist winner of the “Grand Prize Virtuoso” in Austria, among many other awards, we witnessed an interview with Andrés Roemer and none other than Yalitza Aparicio, an actress who was nominated as best actress to the Academy Awards®.
Yalitza motivated us by mentioning that when faced with an obstacle she gets up and never gives up; she reminded us of the life of Leonardo da Vinci by expressing «if you fall, you get back up.»
